How To: Clean Makeup Brushes
Cleaning your makeup brushes has to be the easiest thing ever. Don't over-complicate it. You will need water and a mild cleanser.
I use Dr. Bronner's 18-in-1 Hemp Peppermint Pure-Castile Soap. It's certified fair trade and is made with organic oils. Basically it's the good stuff. I actually use it as my body wash and occasional facial cleanser. It is multipurpose. It can be used to wash your floors, dogs, dishes, hair, and more I recommend looking into this stuff.
I also use a brush cleaner, (which isn't necessary,) but can be found at TJMaxx for $3.99.
Your brushes should be cleaned at least once a week if frequently used. I have to wash my face brushes more often than my eye brushes because I don't wear as much eye makeup.
You can also occasionally wipe off makeup with a daily makeup brush spray or a makeup remover wipe.
But anyways, here's what I do:
I put a quarter-sized amount of soap in a mixing bowl and fill with warm/hot water. I stick a bunch of brushes in the bowl to "soak," and then lightly scrub each brush over the brush cleaner or my hand. I rinse and reshape the brush into it's original shape, squeezing as much water out as possible, then lay the brush flat to dry. Many people recommend hanging your brushes upside down to dry but I don't own anything to do that.
If you do this at night, and wake up in the next morning, your brushes will be dry.
And there you have it, clean makeup brushes. Quick and Simple.
Enjoy!
