Hosting a Halloween Party: Tips & Decor

Halloween is our family’s favorite holiday. It’s a fun time to dress up and decorate and watch some of the best movies. I've really been wanting to host a Halloween party and this just so happened to be the year The Dodson’s Annual Halloween Costume Party Commenced!

Keep in mind, we do live in an apartment currently so we ended up renting our clubhouse for the party. If you have a house, you can really go above and beyond.

As always you need a great invitation. I love to design stuff like this, so I used Canva to create our party invite. Feel free to use the popular evite or go completely old fashion with paper invites. It’s important for you to have a guest list and for people to RSVP. You can either have enough or not enough which can be overwhelming either way.

Now that that is out of the way, here’s what made the day a success:

Some of my Favorite Tips:

  1. Have finger foods. Do not stress yourself out with cooking a full blown meal. Kids will almost eat anything.

  2. Use Pinterest to keep all of your ideas and recipes in one place. It makes the prep and day of so much easier.

  3. Have a good playlist and some games. Spotify has tons of playlists you can already choose from and you can either go crafty with making the games or buying them from the store.

Some of my Favorite places to shop:

  1. Target

  2. Dollar Tree

  3. Walmart

  4. Party City

*Unfortunately I wan’t able to link the pictures & direct links to the items I picked up. But feel free to scroll their sites or if you’re brave enough go in store. They have some great party decor!

I definitely learned a lot since this was my first time hosting a Halloween party. We’ll be in a house next year so there will be lots more decor and tips to come!

Love & Light,
