Tips & Tricks For Better Sleep

I am all about getting a better night’s sleep. And with so many new changes, like having a toddler and being pregnant, I’ve been on the hunt, trying different things to sleep better at night.

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

  • No tech in the bedroom- seriously, leave your phone in another room. The light from your phone, the notifications, the apps are all just distractions. I like to leave my phone in the kitchen.

  • No tech at least 1 hour before bed- Again, your phone is a distraction. Try something else, such as reading or journaling. It’s a great way to remove any last-minute thoughts, to-do lists, worries, etc. Doing a brain dump before bed is a great thing to do to clear the mind and get better sleep.

  • Use lavender- Lavender is known for getting a better night’s sleep, so try creating your own lavender bed spray with lavender essential oil and water, or a lavender soap during a shower before bed.

  • Be mindful of the temperature in your room- They say keep your room between 68 and 72 degrees Fahrenheit. We like our room on the colder side.

  • Try White Noise- It works for babies and I have found it works for me too. I also like listening to rain sounds. My husband prefers the ocean. Spotify has great playlists to listen to.

  • No coffee/caffeine after 2 pm- I know for me personally, I don’t feel the full effects of caffeine until 2 to 3 hours later. So, it’s best to avoid it.

  • Go to bed and wake up around the same time every day- If your body knows it’s time to go to bed at a specific time, it’ll be easier to fall asleep. It’s also important to find the right amount of sleep that your specific body needs.

  • Don’t drink a lot of water before bed- Unless you want to wake up nonstop to go to the bathroom.

I hope this helps! If you need help with the morning, you can read more here.
