Spring Break Bucket List for Kids

Spring is such a fun and exciting time for kids. It’s a season to open the windows, go for long walks, and bring out the warm weather gear. It also means it’s time for spring break! The kids have been working hard in school all year and now it’s time to relax and enjoy the weather before finishing the school year out strong. I’m over here mentally preparing for what I’m going to do with the kids this year and I’ve got some cool ideas.

I put together a list of fun and practical things to do with your little ones this spring break and I hope you spend this time soaking up all of the fresh air!

  1. Start a small garden. For us, we live in an apartment, so we planted some seeds in a pot. Pinterest has some great tips and tricks for apartment/small space gardening.

  2. Make an actual volcano. This is so much fun to mold the volcano, paint it, then to see it erupt with baking soda and vinegar. Jordan literally enjoyed working on this for hours.

  3. Take a hike/Nature walk. This is a great time to get some fresh air and to watch the trees and flowers bloom. Turn it into a scavenger hunt and find things for your little one to collect. My daughter personally loves collecting rocks, so we make it a habit to search for new and exciting rocks.

  4. Scout out local playgrounds and parks and try visiting at least 3 different parks throughout Spring Break. This has to be one of our top favorite things to do. Each park is so different and has a variety of things for the kids to do so they don’t get bored.

  5. Take a trip to the local zoo or farm. It involves tons of walking and tons of animals. We really enjoy seeing all of the different animals and the cute and funny things they do. It’s also a lot of fun getting to see all of the training demonstrations or being able to touch or feed the animals.

  6. Go to the farmer’s market. The market should be getting ready to open back up and this is a good time to start creating that routine to shop locally again for your produce. We personally try to go every weekend.

  7. Decorate some Easter eggs and have an egg hunt. This has to be one of my favorite traditions to do with the little ones.

  8. Create a fairy garden. I have seen this idea trending all over the internet. There are so many Pinterest posts dedicated to this one concept alone. They even sell specialty kits to get you started. I think it’s about time we try this activity out.

  9. Visit the local library and check out books on Spring. Spring break can be educational too. Find some books that explain the cycle of spring and the different animals and plants that come alive during this time.

  10. Have a picnic in the park. Spend an evening making dinner to go, grab a blanket, and enjoy eating dinner outside in the park. My kids really enjoy being outside and this is something that they are continually asking to do.

Hopefully this gets the ball rolling for your spring break activities. I can honestly go on and on about fun things to do with your kids. Jordan starts her Spring Break next week and I am so excited to enjoy all of this nice weather we’ve been having.

Feel free to share any more activities that you personally love doing with your little ones.

Love & Light,
