Kenilworth Park & Aquatic Gardens
You guys know I love my parks and I am on a mission to visit as many different parks as I can this summer. I did a quick Google search and saw there was a Lotus and Waterlily Festival at this park and on a whim, we decided to go. It wasn't far from our house whatsoever but the way DC drivers are, we missed our exit and had to go a complete other route. Nonetheless we made it and parked in the field. From what we can tell, there is a pretty decent sized playground and a lot of open space, just how I like it. We walked towards the track and walked the trail toward the aquatic gardens. This was a serious hike guys! A mile for sure! There was plenty of other trails, bridges, and scenic points. It was so nice to just completely surround yourself with nature. I mean trees everywhere! I really wish we had owned bikes because then the day would have been really perfect.
Now once we reached the aquatic gardens which is where the festival was held, we were in awe. Waterlilies were everywhere you looked! There was live music, a variety of tables, face painting, waterlily hats, coloring, performances, and the main attraction, the waterlilies! They even had a few food trucks outside of the park.
It was such a different experience for us and our family is all for trying new things. As long as we have food and water, we're always up for an adventure.
I can't wait for us to come back with bikes to explore some of the other trails.
Enjoy!
