What I've Been Reading Lately

I’ve been doing quite a bit of reading lately and wanted to share the books I read:

  1. The Trespasser - Tana French

This was a good one. The book follows a murder detective who is not liked by her own squad and receives quite a bit of hassle on the job. Her newest case looks like it should be an easy book and straight to the point until it starts getting more attention than it should. Antoinette thinks someone is after her job so she decides to be a little more thorough with the domestic case she has on hand. The more through Antoinette is, the more complicated the case is and not as straight to the point as she once thought. This was more than a domestic case, it was a murder. Now Antoinette is on the hunt for the real murderer but she may be getting in more trouble than she realizes.

  2. Every Vow You Break - Peter Swanson

This was another good one. The book follows Abigail and her getting married to a millionaire, Bruce. Despite the crazy amount of money her future husband has, they are madly in love and she has never had to question Bruce and his motives. Abigail has a lavish bachelorette party but makes a huge mistake of sleeping with a guy. She thinks nothing of it and knows she still wants to marry Bruce. However, this guy turns to be a bigger problem than she realized. She swears she sees him at her wedding and then for sure sees him on her honeymoon - on a private island! Is he stalking her? He says he has come to warn her about her new husband Bruce and that not everything is as it seems. The honeymoon starts getting twistier and twistier. Is it this stalker being the crazy one or did she really marry a crazy man?

  3. The Last Guest House - Megan Miranda

Avery works for her best friend’s vacation company. They are loaded and wanted to give Avery a chance since she was Sadie’s (their daughter) best friend. That is until Sadie comes up dead. Everyone starts pointing fingers at the scapegoat Avery. She was the one who so desperately wanted to be like Sadie. Sadie is desperate to prove her innocence in her best friend’s murder and she’s willing to do whatever it takes.

  4. Ready, Set, Breathe - Carla Naumburg, PhD

We've been trying to incorporate more mindfulness into our family. I know the basics of it but I wanted to learn a little more and how to implement it with small children. This is a great book that breaks down what is mindfulness and what it can be. It gives small and practical things to implement in your home with small children to create a strong and lasting practice.

  5. All I see is You - Jessica Urlichs

This is a beautiful poetry book on motherhood. I can relate to almost every single word she writes. He words are raw, beautiful, relateable, and magnetic. I have caught myself crying a few times after reading some of hee poems.

These are some of the books I’ve been reading lately.

I have quite a stack of books on my nightstand so I’m sure you’ll see another one of these soon.

love & light,

Jalesa

Friendly reminder: I don’t buy all of these books at full price. I check local thrift stores and of course ThriftBooks firs before purchasing on Amazon.
