Book Talk: Gentle Discipline

“If you have told a child a thousand times and he still does not understand, then it is not the child who is the slow learner.”

I love this book! Along my positive parenting journey, this book popped up in my recommended reading and I would recommend it to anyone else on their positive parenting journey.

It defines this new approach to parenting and the reasoning behind it. We all want happy, healthy children and we all want to be happy, healthy parents that have a good relationship with our children.

Of course, this approach isn’t going to be everyone’s cup of tea but it does give some insight and different approaches to try with your little one. Again not only does it recommend the different approaches but the reason why too! Many books tell us that something is harmful but not why it is harmful. This book does the opposite of that!

“Why is the child behaving this way? Has something triggered their behaviour? Is it developmentally normal? How is the child feeling? Are they acting this way because they are feeling bad? What do you hope to teach the child when you discipline them?”

It’s not a quick-fix approach to parenting but a guide to help foster your relationship with your child and have effective parenting.

I hope you’ll give it a read!

love & light,
