Natural Bridge State Park

We recently ventured to Natural Bridge State Park and it did not disappoint.

If you don’t know what Natural Bridge is, it’s this beautiful arch naturally made from rock and erosion. You can’t walk on the bridge but you can walk under it. Walking under it is so magical. You hear the echo of your voice and the coolness from the moisture in the rock.

When you first get to the park, you enter behind the Natural Bridge Visitor center. You descend down 137 steps (it’s not that bad) surrounded by lush trees and smaller waterfalls and a river. Once down the stairs, you are greeted by the beautiful Natural Bridge.

There is tons of seating throughout.

Once you walk under the bridge, you can follow the trail to the end to see the waterfall. The majority of the trail is shaded. Along the way are some attractions such as a stick village, a cave, the river, the lost river and lots of bugs. We saw a few lizards and a water snake as well. Jax had a few butterfly friends who liked to rest upon his hat.

The trail is not stroller friendly but it’s not terrible either. The hike is 2 miles total and that includes the walk to the waterfall and back.

I thought it was so beautiful seeing the lighting and a small rainbow flare when we were leaving the park. It was kind of like a send-off message.

It was hot but there were some moments of coolness from the shade, a small breeze, and the moisture from the rocks. It was so peaceful and beautiful to walk along the river and under the trees while listening to the sound of the river. I was hoping we would have been a little closer to the waterfall but we got to admire it from a distance.

It was an easy hike for my kids which I appreciated. The trail is primarily flat.

I would love to go visit again one day.

Have you ever visited the Natural Bridge?

It’s amazing what our earth can do naturally.

love & light,
