Activities for Kids on the Go

We plan on doing a lot of road trips this summer and I’m a little nervous traveling with 3 kids for 4+ hours at a time. So I’ve gathered some things that my kids enjoy doing and figured they’d be good activities for while we’re in the car.

I’ll link what we actually use and what are some good options for things I can’t link.

  1. Water Wow: These are little reusable coloring books that allow your child to color with water. When they’re done, they dry and you can use them over and over again. They have a variety of scenes and my kids love these.

  2. Reusable Sticker Books: This is another good one. There are different scenes and the kids can choose to place stickers and create stories. They can move the stickers around and it’s a lot of fun for them. *beware of them trying to put the stickers on car windows.

  3. Activity Books: Costco has a great selection of activity books for older kids that consist of puzzles, games, coloring pages, riddles, projects, and more. My oldest(9) loves these books.

  4. Dry-Erase Activity Books: There are a variety of dry-erase activity books as well. It just gives the kiddos something else to use instead of a pencil. Plus it is reusable.

  5. Car Bingo: We picked up these bingo boards from the Target dollar spot and they are so fun. It gives the kids something to look for and you can mark it off as they see it. Whoever gets BINGO can pick a treat from our next stop.

  6. Paint By Sticker Books: This has been my daughter’s new obsession. They have numbered stickers that you can place in the corresponding spots to create a scene.

  7. Toys: I also like to pack some toys that are solely for the car. The kids get more excited about them because they don’t play with them often.

  8. Books: Each kid gets a couple of books to read during the car ride. (We also love audiobooks).

I just put some of these activities into a basket along with some snacks in the back so that they can reach and they have a variety of activities to choose from to keep them occupied for awhile.

What’s the longest you’ve traveled with kids and what activities did you bring along?
