Wash-n-Go Routine

It's summertime and that means it is wash-n-go season! Cheers to wet hair and air drying! So I wanted to take the time to share my personal wash-n-go routine and the products that I use.

Disclaimer: I personally do this routine whenever I want to refresh my curls. This is about one to two times a week. Once, when I deep condition my hair and twice being I wash my hair again because of product build up or as part of a co-wash. Do not expect your wash-n-go to last 2 weeks or longer, especially if you use a lot of products to refresh your curls.

Okay, so it is wash day! I typically like to have wash day on a Friday or Sunday depending on the events during the following days.

I use my Shea Moisture Fruit Fusion Coconut Water weightless shampoo and my Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine Conditioner. The shampoo is for fine, wavy, curly hair, and the conditioner is for thick, curly hair. My hair is a mix in between the two. I also want a moisturizing conditioner for my curls because they can get a little dry.

I'll wash my hair as usual, then apply the conditioner. I'll let the conditioner set on my hair as I continue to wash in the shower. After, I do a half rinse. A half rinse is just barely rinsing out the conditioner. I finger detangle a little as I am rinsing. I'll then do a light squeeze to get a lot of the water out and apply my hair towel.

This is my hair when I take the towel off. Do not rub your hair with the towel! Pat dry if your hair is dripping water, but my hair drys fairly quickly and didn't need any extra towel drying.

These are the products I use to style, again by Shea Moisture. I use their Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie and the Curling Gel Souffle. I do not use the L.O.C method in the Summer, but more so in the Winter to keep in moisture.

I section my hair into about four parts and use the above amount of the curl enhancing smoothie in each section. I finger comb this through my hair starting from the middle down to the ends. Whatever is leftover I put on the roots of my hair. I am not yet scrunching my hair. I use half the amount for the curling gel souffle and only focus this on the ends and then I begin to scrunch. Whatever is leftover I apply to my edges to tame any flyaways.

Then I air dry! Do not touch! Leave your hair alone! I do not touch my hair until it is close to being dry and then I move it how I want and fluff it if it needs more volume. I may even go back to apply a little more gel to my edges.

Now my wash-n-gos do not always turn out perfect and my hair will often times go into a bun. I know a lot of people use a diffuser, I personally do not.

I hope this was helpful. I'll be doing a curly hair tips and tricks soon so lookout for that post!

Enjoy!
