Day Date in Richmond

RICHMOND, VA

We are big lovers of a day date. We have recently been gravitating toward the Richmond area. There are tons of great restaurants, shops, and a variety of museums and things to do for all ages.

We asked the internet for a list of places to eat in the area, we chose a museum, and then went from there.

Here’s how our day date went:

We started our Richmond tour around 10 -ish am by grabbing a late breakfast at First Watch. I grabbed the breakfast tacos and my husband grabbed the avocado toast. Both were so good but the breakfast tacos definitely took the win out of the two. We split the million-dollar bacon which is a must! You also have to try their juices. I heard that their lemon ricotta pancakes are also a must.

We then headed to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. We are suckers for an art museum. We spent a good 3 hours exploring and probably could have spent longer if it weren’t for us getting hungry. The museum is free to the public. We purchased tickets to visit their current exhibit: Whistler to Cassatt: American Painters in France. I am a big Cassatt fan so the exhibit was a must for me. I loved the attention to detail with the paint colors on the walls and the various other elements to emphasize the art. There was just so much good stuff there that we hadn’t seen in our various trips to the DC art museums.

For an early dinner, we headed to Spoonbread Bistro Deux. This meal will forever be a favorite. Everything was so good. We really enjoyed the fried calamari as our appetizer. The staff was so friendly and informative since it was our first time. I honestly can’t wait for us to go back for another dinner dater. This is definitely a splurge type of place to eat but I highly recommend it.

Once we were done with our amazing meal, we walked around Short Pump Mall before heading to Trader Joe’s. We have missed having a Trader Joe’s since leaving DC so we stopped by to pick up all of our favorite snacks. They have this Italian sparkling wine which is so good, along with this vegan cheese dip. We made a charcuterie board for our movie night when we got home with all of our Trader Joe’s snacks.

We had the best time. We love eating food together so we can’t wait to go back and explore what else Richmond has to offer.

Tell me, what do you like to do when you visit Richmond?

love & light,
