Lately with The Dodsons
We have been on a roll ever since moving back to Virginia. We thought things would slow down when we moved from DC but nope! We can’t complain though. It’s been so nice being surrounded by family and friends. So let’s catch up! Here’s what we’ve been up to. . . . .
J U L Y
We officially moved in and we kicked off the month with Fourth of July celebrations at Johnathan’s grandparents house. We didn’t make it out to see fireworks but we ate plenty of good food. We really took the time to start exploring our city and falling back in love with Fredericksburg so we were downtown a lot! Honestly they have so many cute shops, good restaurants, and great coffee shops that we truly do enjoy our new city. It’s smaller, and a lot slower than DC but gives us the same satisfaction. One of our favorite little coffee shops has to be the Curitiba Art Cafe. Their matcha latte is so good.
We spent lots of time with my sisters and I gained a lot of confidence with breastfeeding in public because to be honest, it can be a little intimidating and it really shouldn’t be!
This was the month I also returned back to work which has been satisfying and hard all at the same time. I am blessed that I am able to work from home and make my own hours. When I need to go in, my kids are able to work with me.
A U G U S T
August was all about developing a new routine because we couldn’t just walk everywhere and Johnathan had a longer commute. Some things had to give but we are adjusting and making it work. We continued with our downtown adventures. Jordan was heading back to school in September and we wanted to make the most of the rest of the summer.
We spent many days at Carl’s ice cream, food trucks at the farmer’s market, pool days, day trip to Richmond, library trips, and one of our favorites, the Fredericksburg children’s museum. Jordan loves it there.
We started weekly dinner with friends which to be honest, has been a lot of fun. We’ve been regularly attending church, and we had been preparing for back to school since we knew this was going to be a huge transition for Jordan.
Despite working hard and getting settled into our new routine, we’ve been playing just as hard and the Dodsons are extremely happy with where we are in life. So make sure you’re staying up to date on the blog and Instagram for all the fun!
Love & Light,
