Oh man! April was a huge month for our family. We literally went through so many changes individually and together as a family. Hopefully, I can remember it all, because mom brain, baby brain, whatever you want to call it, is so real.
Of course, we celebrated Easter! It was so much fun. I love sharing traditions I grew up with, with my daughter.
My little girl turned 6 this month and it just breaks my heart! She is growing up so fast and I'm just wishing time would slow down just a little. This was the first year we didn't throw a birthday party for her. Instead, we kept it really low-key and intimate. My main goal this month was to really give her our undivided attention because the countdown to Baby Dodson was rapidly approaching.
In our last few weeks before the new baby, we took the time for more family outings and walks. We had some amazing gelato from Eastern Market. We took a trip to Frying Pan Farm Park. And the hubby and I went to go see Ready Player One as our last movie date for a little while. We're bummed we couldn't go see Avengers opening weekend but we're going to go see it soon!
At about 37 weeks we were really hoping baby would come. We were growing impatient. Although I'm glad we were able to squeeze in a few more things before he came. We did have a false alarm where I thought my water had broken but nope, it was just pee!
At my 39 week appointment I was showing no signs of labor and at that point, we were taking bets on when he would show. Well all of us were wrong, because labor started that night.
I was having consistent contractions starting around 9:30 pm. We arrived at the hospital at 11:00 pm on April 25th and he was here 3:36 am on April 26th! It was honestly the best labor and delivery experience. I couldn't have asked for a better support team of nurses and doctors. My husband did fantastic! I love that it was just us two.
Ever since Jaxon was born, we've been keeping it very chill and relaxing at home, taking it all in and adjusting. As I'm writing this, it's been exactly 2 weeks.
With us taking a slower pace to life these days, I'll slowly be making my way back to blogging.
Love & Light,
