2017: A Year in Review

"And suddenly you know...it's time to start something new and trust the magic of beginnings."

It's that time again to look back on the year we've finished and look forward to the year ahead. So much has happened this year, good and bad. I learned so much about myself and my family and I wouldn't change a single thing that I've been through. After looking back through the year, I have accomplished so much more than I thought I would and learned a whole lot more of who I am and where I want to be. So cheers to new beginnings and new experiences and thank you for all of the memories and opportunities in 2017.

Looking back:

January: This was a month of highs and lows, in and out of my comfort zone. My husband and I joined the Women's March along with thousands and thousands of others to fight for woman rights and make our voices heard. It was such a beautiful experience to be a part of, and it showed that people really do know how to come together peacefully and with love. This was the month I also experienced my miscarriage which sent me into a downward spiral for the next few months.

February: It was so warm, like oddly warm during this month, but that only encouraged us to get out of the house more as a family. We made many trips around the city, from markets to museums, to the zoo, just really exploring, and letting our feet lead the way.

March: Because of my miscarriage, I was in a really negative headspace to where it was negatively impacting not only myself but my family too. I started reading more inspirational books and blogs and really trying to encourage more of a positive mindset and outlook on life.

April: I became an aunt to a nephew who is as cute as a button and Jordan turned 5! I honestly cannot believe how big she is getting. My heart explodes every time I look at her. We took a family road trip to Kill Devil Hills in North Carolina and it was exactly what our spirits needed.

May: The hubby and I went on our very first vacation (baecation) to New York and we loved every moment of it. It was my first time in New York and although I wouldn't live there, I'll visit often. I finally went to BeautyCon! I had been dreaming for years to go and we finally made it happen and it was everything and more than expected.

June: Jordan officially finished preschool and her speech and vocabulary improved tremendously! It was also our first time going to a Nationals game and honestly even though I don't know much about baseball, it was a lot of fun.

July: We made lots of trips back to our hometown of Fredericksburg and spent time with friends and family. We also went to the Aquatic Gardens Lily festival which was a lot of fun and so beautiful despite how hot it was.

August: We finally made it to the Air and Space Museum and honestly couldn't finish it all. There was just so much to look at. Jordan started Kindergarten!

September: I took a break from social media and came back pregnant! haha! This is when I found out we're adding a new member to the Dodson clan!

October: This month we really started readjusting to the swing of things, especially dealing with those awful and I mean awful first-trimester symptoms. We went to the pumpkin patch and announced our pregnancy at 14 weeks! We participated in Hilloween and Jordan dressed up as Raggedy Ann for Halloween. My best friend also moved back from New York!

November: This girl turned 23! And I spent it with friends and family which is really what my soul needed. We also cooked our first Thanksgiving meal at home and didn't get sick! haha.

December: We found out the gender of Baby Dodson, gender reveal coming soon. I hosted a gingerbread house party for my daughter's school, and we attended my husband's holiday party. I made sure to dress to impress. (It's easy to get lost and not feel like yourself during pregnancy.)

As you can see, we've been some busybodies and honestly, we enjoyed every moment of it. I honestly didn't realize how much we've done over the year. It only encourages me and inspires me to do much more in 2018. And despite the fact we are going to be newborn parents in 2018, it's not gonna stop us from creating more experiences and taking on more opportunities.

So thank you! Thank you for following along and reading my little blog. I've been a little inconsistent but life happens and life is inconsistent. We can only take it one day at a time. But don't you worry! Although I may take some breaks, I have big plans for this little corner of the internet and I hope you stick around for the ride. I don't plan on slowing down anytime soon.

Love & Light My Friends & Have a Happy New Year!
